LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Jennifer Stevens (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley), a member of Bucknell's women's cross country team, received the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week honor for the first time this season. Stevens was the first Bison runner to cross the finish line at the Patriot League Championships, held last Saturday, where Bucknell earned a first place finish.
At the Championships, Stevens finished fourth overall with a time of 21 minutes, 14 seconds.
Stevens has finished first for the Bison in three other races this season, including the Penn State National Invitational, where she finished 41st overall (out of 259 runners), with a time of 22:03. At the other two races, the Paul Short Invitational and the George Washington Invitational, she finished 31st (315 runners) and second overall (117 runners), with times of 21:27.9 and 22:36.17, respectively. The first-place finish at the Championships was the first PL title the women have won since 2001.
Stevens and the rest of the Bucknell women will return to action on November 12, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships held in Bethlehem, Pa., where runners will try to compete for a qualifying spot in the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, November 21.
