Bucknell Ranked in Mid-Major Poll, Receives Votes in AP Poll

LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the first time in the six-year history of the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll, Bucknell's men's basketball team appears in the national rankings at No. 24, according to the poll released Monday.
Bucknell also received four votes in Monday's Associated Press Poll, giving the Bison an unofficial ranking of 35th. The Bison are coming off the biggest upset in school history, a 69-66 victory over Pittsburgh (then No. 7 USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches Poll, No. 10 AP Poll).
The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Continent, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Sun Belt, West Coast.
Gonzaga received all 31 first-place votes and leads the poll with 775 points, 32 ahead of Wichita State. Southern Illinois, Pacific, Old Dominion, Hofstra, St. Mary's, Utah State, Western Kentucky and Kent State round out the top 10.
Rounding out the rest of the poll are Creighton, Central Florida, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Pepperdine, Southwest Missouri State, Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, Vermont, Princeton, Bowling Green, Bradley, Evansville, Bucknell and Western Michigan.
Patriot League rival Holy Cross, Bucknell's next opponent this Saturday, also received votes in the Mid-Major Poll.
Illinois and Kansas remained 1-2 atop the AP Poll this week. Pittsburgh dropped from 10th to 16th after falling to Bucknell on Sunday.
In the "Others Receiving Votes" listing, Bucknell is sandwiched between Notre Dame and Miami (Fla.).
Bucknell and Holy Cross tip off Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion. The contest will have free admission and be televised nationally on College Sports Television (CSTV).
