Marjorie Grap Named Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Marjorie Grap, a sophomore member of the Bucknell women's track and field team, was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday. Grap, last week's Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week, set a new school record in the 20-pound weight throw on Saturday at the Penn State Relays in State College, Pa.
Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) finished in fifth place overall at Penn State with a toss of 54'8" in the weight to better her own school record of 54'4 ¾" Grap also recorded a season-best throw in the shot put heaving a distance of 43'3 ¼", enough for sixth place.
Grap has experienced an outstanding start to her 2004-05 campaign, winning the weight throw in two of three competitions and winning the shot put at the Gulden Relays on Jan. 8. Grap's performance at the Gulden Relays earned her "Field Athlete of the Meet" honors.
Grap and the rest of the Bison track and field squads will compete at the Bucknell Heptagonal on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Gerhard Fieldhouse. Field events are scheduled for an 11 a.m. start time with the track events getting underway at 12 p.m.
