Bucknell Drops Matches Against Cornell and Duquesne at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - In a full day of volleyball action Saturday at the 2004 Bucknell Volleyball Invitational, Bucknell lost both its matches falling 3-0 to Cornell and 3-1 to Duquesne.
Freshman outside-hitter Jenna Henderson was named to the all-tournament team after recording 22 kills on Friday night and tallying 24 in two games on Saturday. Junior setter Jessica Le was also an all-tournament selection serving up 40 assists against Cornell and 34 assist versus Duquesne on Saturday. Le also dished out 51 assists against Niagara on Friday night.
In Bucknell's first match of the day against Cornell, the Bison dropped three straight games to the Big Red 30-27, 30-27, and 30-24. Cornell was the eventual tournament champion going undefeated in its three matches on the weekend.
Senior Jackie Leahy led Bucknell against Cornell with 12 kills. Teammates Henderson and Sarah Groman added 11 kills each. Groman's hitting percentage of .375 was tops for the Bison.
Cornell got a game-high 16 kills and 11 digs from Elizabeth Bishop. The Big Red edged the Bison in hitting percentage at .185. The Bison registered .164 for the game.
In the second Bison contest of the day, Bucknell gave up the first game to Duquesne 30-18 before rebounding to win the second game 30-19. The Bison then dropped the next two frames, 30-20 and 30-19 giving Duquesne the victory.
Leahy and Carolyn Dougherty came through defensively for the Bison with 14 digs apiece. Offensively, the Bison got 13 kills from Henderson and 12 from Leahy.
All-tournament selection Diana Wuebker led Duquesne with 15 kills and 16 digs, game-highs in both categories.
