PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bucknell men's water polo team finished up play at the Eastern Championship, finishing in eighth place with a loss to Johns Hopkins in the final game. The Bison fell 9-6, marking the fifth-straight loss to the Blue Jays this season.
As was the case in every game this weekend, the Orange and Blue carried a lead into the second quarter, only to get outscored in each of the final three frames. BU was ahead 3-2 after one, and sat in a 5-5 tie at intermission, but Johns Hopkins allowed just one Bison score in the second half to come away with the 9-6 decision.
Bradley Roslyn and Jay Danforth scored twice for Bucknell, while Scott Afzal and Brad Unroe accounted for the other two goals. Elliot Benoist led the team with two assists, and four other players had one helper each.
The Bison did manage 18 steals as a team, led by four from Afzal and three each from goalkeeper Ernest Martin and Danforth. Roslyn had a team-high four ejections drawn, while Martin made seven saves in net.
Bucknell concludes the season with a 10-20 overall record.
