Bucknell Women's Water Polo Falls 11-5 to Brown at ECAC Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Meg Blitzer had two goals, and senior Kelly Hofstetter led the team with three assists, but the Bucknell women's water polo team fell to Brown 11-5 in the opening round of the ECAC Championship, being held at Brown on Saturday, April 3.
The Bison fell in an early hole, trailing 4-2 after just one quarter. BU was still within striking distance at halftime, down just two goals, 5-3, but Brown put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Orange and Blue 4-1. The Bears outscored Bucknell 6-2 in the second half on the way to the 11-5 victory.
In addition to Blitzer's two scores, junior Cody Keffer and freshmen Elizabeth Jensen and Jessica Trimis each added a goal. Rookie's Taylor Voeltz and Mandy Bynum had the other two assists for the Bison.
Bynum, the team's goalkeeper, made nine stops to go along with three steals. Also swiping the ball three times was classmate Mallory Sullivan.
Bucknell is 11-14 overall and will face Iona in the second round of play at 5:15 p.m.
