LEWISBURG, Pa. - Just two days after scoring four goals in Bucknell's Patriot League Tournament-clinching victory over Villanova, Bison senior midfielder Laura Nuss (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.
Nuss, who also had an assist against the Wildcats, helped Bucknell clinch the No. 3 seed at the league tournament. The Bison will open with either Colgate or American on May 1.
Against Villanova, Nuss had two goals and an assist as the Bison took a 6-5 halftime lead, then she scored twice during Bucknell's decisive 7-0 run to start the second half. Her final goal of the day gave BU a commanding 10-5 lead with 20:10 to play.
Nuss, who won her first player of the week honor of the season, has been one of Bucknell's hottest scorers of late. She now has 13 goals and an assist in her last four games, three of which have been Bison victories. Nuss upped her season goal total to 26, a new career high and the second-most on the team this season. Her 30 points rank third on the squad. Nuss ranks seventh in the Patriot League in goal-scoring and 10th in total points.
Bucknell, now 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the Patriot League, hosts Drexel in a non-league game on Wednesday night at Graham Field at 6 p.m. The Bison then wrap up the regular season on Saturday at home against Lehigh at 1 p.m.
