LEWISBURG, Pa. - On the heels of Bucknell's key 12-9 Patriot League road victory over Holy Cross on Saturday, two Bison women's lacrosse players earned weekly league honors on Monday.
Senior attack Meredith Wright (Bethesda, Md./Holton Arms) was named the league's player of the week, while rookie attack Katie Edge (McLean, Va./St. Stephens St. Agnes) was cited as the freshman of the week for the second straight week.
Wright contributed three goals and two assists in Bucknell's come-from-behind 12-9 win over the Crusaders. She scored three times in a six-minute span in the first half, then dished two assists in the second as the Bison scored five of the game's final six goals.
Wright also had two goals in Bucknell's 18-8 loss at Harvard on Sunday.
Edge scored five goals on the team's New England trip over the weekend. She found the net twice in the win over Holy Cross, then registered a hat trick against Harvard.
Edge and Wright are Bucknell's top two scorers this season. Both players have scored 25 points - Edge on a team-high 21 goal and four assists and Wright on 18 goals and a team-high seven assists.
The Bison are 4-4 on the season and 2-1 in the Patriot League. Bucknell has a one-game lead and victories in hand over both Holy Cross and Lafayette, who are tied for fourth.
Bucknell steps out of league play on Saturday, hosting Denver at 7 p.m. at Graham Field.
