LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore guard Charles Lee (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team, the league announced following Sunday's men's basketball championship game in Bethlehem, Pa.
Lee scored 20 points in Bucknell's 66-60 quarterfinal victory over Holy Cross on March 6. In that game Lee made 6 of 8 shots from the field and all seven from the free throw line, including a key pair with a minute to play.
A Second Team All-Patriot League selection, Lee also reached double figures with 10 points along with two assists and four steals in Bucknell's semifinal loss to Lehigh.
Lee's emergence as one of the league's top young players coincided with Bucknell's late-season surge. Averaging 5.2 points per game entering Patriot League play in January, Lee upped that figure to a team best 13.5 ppg over the Bison's last 17 games, and he earned an all-star nod for his efforts.
Bucknell won 11 of those 17 games, including a 10-1 stretch that vaulted the Bison into the Patriot League's upper division. After two close road losses to start the conference slate, Bucknell won nine of its last 12 in league play and tied for third place, just one game out of first.
By season's end Lee pushed his overall scoring average into double figures at 10.1 ppg, good for 15th in the Patriot League. He also ranked fifth in steals (1.62), third in free-throw percentage (.818), tied for seventh in rebounding (5.0), ninth in assists (2.62) and 10th in field-goal percentage (.461).
Joining Lee on the all-tournament team were Austen Rowland and Jason Mgebroff of Lehigh, Andres Rodriguez and Jernavis Draughn of American, and Colgate's Howard Blue. Rowland was named the tournament's MVP.
