Junior Meg Blitzer Tabbed Southern Division Player of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior women's water polo player Meg Blitzer (Durham, N.H./Phillips Academy) has been named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Player of the Week after helping the Bison to a 2-1 start to the 2004 season. The award was given for the week ending February 15, 2004.
Blitzer was instrumental in BU's first victory of the year, a 9-7 win against Wagner at the Princeton Invitational. The co-captain scored three goals and assisted on another in the win. In the Orange and Blue's season-opening 9-7 loss to Harvard, Blitzer also scored three times and grabbed a team-high three steals. In the final game of the weekend, a 12-1 decision over Marist, she again tallied multiple goals, scoring twice in the win.
For the weekend, Blitzer scored eight goals and assisted on one other to lead the team with nine points.
Bucknell is 2-1 overall and is in competition next when it hosts the Bucknell Invitational on February 28-29. The Bison open play against Southern Division rival Princeton at 12:00 noon on Saturday, the 28th.
