Bison Women's Water Polo Takes Decisive 12-1 Win Over Marist

PRINCETON, N.J. - Eight different players scored for the Bucknell women's water polo team as the squad defeated Marist, 12-1, in the final game of the weekend at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, February 15, 2004.
The Bison carried a 10-0 lead into the locker room after outscoring the Red Foxes 6-0 in the first and 4-0 in the second quarter. Marist finally got on the board in the third, but the Orange and Blue added two more in the fourth quarter for the dominating win.
Juniors Ashley Aiken and Katie Hartigan, sophomore Christina Behrens, and freshman Sadie Abuhoff each scored twice for Bucknell. Junior Cody Keffer, sophomore Amanda Nogic, and freshmen Elizabeth Jensen and Caitlin O'Meara netted one goal each for BU. Keffer, Jensen and O'Meara also had two assists, while Nogic and freshman Jessica Trimis added one helper.
The Bison also registered 11 steals in the contest, led by two each from Aiken, Blitzer and Abuhoff.
Freshman Mandy Bynum and sophomore Meg Fulop split time in the goal. Bynum allowed no goals in two quarters of work, making four stops. Fulop allowed just one goal while stopping three of the Red Foxes shots.
Bucknell improves to 2-1 overall. The Bison are in action next when they host the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, February 28-29.
