Erika Mannix Named Bison Athlete of the Week for School Record Performance

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Erika Mannix (Trabuco Cyn., Calif./Tesoro) was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week after setting a new school record in the three-meter diving event. Mannix tallied a total of 428.50 points to finish in second place in the 11-dive format event at the Bucknell Trials/Finals Invitational, Sunday at Kinney Natatorium.
Mannix shattered the previous record of 407.65 points set by Bucknell's Sara Petcavage in 2003. Mannix is also ranked fifth in Bucknell history in the one-meter dive with a season-best score of 234.70 set at the Bucknell Sprint Invitational on Nov. 6.
So far in her freshman campaign, Mannix has picked up two first place finishes, winning both the one and three meter dives at the Bucknell Sprint Invitational. She has also recorded two second-place finishes, racked up three third-place honors and has yet to finish lower than fourth in a competition.
The Bison men's and women's swimming and diving squads will be back in action after winter break when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to compete against North Carolina and Brown. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m.
