
Bucknell Cross Country Finishes Out Season at ECAC/IC4A Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - The Bucknell men's and women's cross country teams ran the final races of the 2004 season on Saturday at the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Bronx, N.Y. The Bison women placed 10th of 15 teams in the ECAC varsity race while the Bucknell men finished eighth in a 17 team field in the IC4A university division.
Senior Jen Marsh finished out her Bison cross country career by finishing first for Bucknell for the first time this season. Marsh completed the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, good enough for 51st place overall. Just behind Marsh was Leanna Nastase in 57th place with a time of 19:06.
Erin Cranmer-Hart finished third for the Bison in 61st position (19:13), followed by senior Katie Pfeifer in 65th (19:17). Jen O'Connor was the final scorer for Bucknell, placing 69th (19:24). LaSalle won the women's varsity race with 68 points. Bucknell tallied 283 for 10th.
On the men's side, Kevin Fortkiewicz ran as Bucknell's top finisher over the five mile course, placing 33rd overall in 26:50. Kevin Brown followed in 35th in 26:54. Andrew Corral finished on Brown's heels, placing 36th in 26:55.
Brian Kennedy placed 45th (27:07), as Bucknell's fourth finisher. Derrin Pierret rounded out the Bison scorers in 47th (27:08). The Bison combined for 186 points for eighth place. Stony Brook won the division with 58 points.
The Bison distance runners, along with the rest of the Bucknell track and field squads, will begin the indoor track and field season on Saturday, Dec. 4, with the Bison Opener at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
