Bucknell Men's Cross Country Fifth, Women's Team 12th at Iona Meet of Champions

Bronx, N.Y. - Greg Costello finished 16th to lead the men's cross country squad and Jennifer Stevens finished 60th to lead Bucknell's women's team at the Iona Meet of Champions on Saturday morning in the Bronx, N.Y.
Bucknell sent eight runners to New York on the men's side and nine on the women's side. For the men, Wes Reinhardt, Bucknell's leader two weeks ago in Detroit, finished second on the team with a time of 26:21.0 to Costello's 26:02.3. Aaron Hanlon (44th, 26:35.8), Doug Creveling (48th, 26:45.9), and Dan Lounsbury (53rd, 26:49.4) were also scoring runners for the men's team, which finished fifth.
Additional men's finishers were Sean McCarthy (77th, 27:21.2), Ryan Delaney (88th, 27:29.7), and Stephen Schaefer (95th, 27:37.3).
On the women's side, after Stevens' time of 23:40.2, Leanna Nastase, Bucknell's high finisher in Detroit, finished 66th with a time of 23:41.9. Lauren Bricker (67th, 23:42.4), Alison Cole (68th, 23:42.6), and Julie Jakoboski (73rd, 23:47.5) were other scoring finishers for the Bison, who finished 12th.
Additional women's finishers were Lauren Kinsey (88th, 24:06.7), Katie Pfeifer (101st, 24:23.1), Jennifer Malcolm (115th, 24:43.7), and Mollie Harms (134th, 25:36.3).
Iona won the men's meet, with La Salle, Dartmouth, Brown, and Bucknell rounding out the top five. Iona's Joe McAlister won the individual title, with a time of (25:12.5). Dartmouth's Jarrod Shoemaker (25:15.4), Iona's Mark Smyth (25:21.2) and Sean Connolly (25:22.9), Anthony Debenedictis (unattached, 25:24.2), San Diego State's Brad Lowery (25:43.1), La Salle's Ryan Fennelly (25:43.5), Tim Carroll (25:44.5), and Daniel McGrath (25:48.3), and Auburn's Andrew Heath (25:50.7) rounded out the top ten.
The women's meet's winner was Princeton, with Yale, Pittsburgh, Dartmouth, and Brown rounding out the top five. The meet's winner was Emily Kroshus of Princeton, who finished in 21:32.3. Princeton's Cack Ferrell (21:41.0), Auburn's Angela Homan (21:49.6), La Salle's Sheila Klick (21:55.3), Rhode Island's Kristen Coon (22:02.0), Villanova's Juliette Kenny (22:02.7), Princeton's Mia Swenson (22:07.9), Megan Holden (unattached, 22:08.3), Connecticut's Kristen Meyer (22:11.5), and Yale's Melissa Donais (22:14.4) rounded out the top ten.
Bucknell sent 14 male athletes and 10 female athletes to Lock Haven, where the men finished 10th and the women 12th. The high Bucknell finisher for the men was Travis Rivers (55th, 26:44.73), with Kayla Halloran (40th, 24:33.41) leading the Bucknell women.
The Bison will compete next at its only home meet of the year, the Gulden Invitational, on October 3.
