Bison Women's Tennis Competes on Day One of Bucknell Invitational

Lewisburg, Pa. - Four of the ten Bucknell athletes competing in the singles draw of the Bucknell Invitational remain undefeated, and all five doubles teams are unbeaten after day one of competition.
Tanya Sichko, Rheanna Gaskin, Samantha Berthod, and Chelsea Mills have advanced to the semifinals of the Bucknell Invitational by winning two matches each on the first day of competition.
Sichko beat Annie Davies of Pittsburgh, 6-0, 2-6, (10-4), and Liddy Bartell of Georgetown, 6-3, 7-6(4) to advance. Gaskin beat Gina Turturiello of Loyola, 6-2, 6-0, and Courtney Flezzani of Villanova, 7-5, 6-3. Berthod beat Lauren Colfer of Bloomsburg, 6-1, 6-1, and Jessie Rybacki of Villanova, 6-1, 6-0, while Chelsea Mills beat Konita Jude of Pittsburgh, 6-1, 6-2, and Jessica Liberatore of Loyola, 6-1, 6-0.
On the doubles side, Veronica Brown and Sichko beat Carolyn Pilkington and Kaitlin Russo of Loyola, 8-3, to advance into the second day of the winner's bracket. Gaskin and Berthod beat Julianne Bramante and Lindsey Wychoff of Bloomsburg, 8-1 to advance. Mills and Rebecca Kral earned a bye, as did Kristen Pugno and Renee Clinton. Jill Merselis and Kelly Porter will play their first doubles match tomorrow.
