
Bison Women's Water Polo Season Ends with Eighth-Place Finish at Eastern's

BOSTON, Mass. - The Bucknell women's water polo season came to a close on Sunday, April 27, as the squad dropped an 8-6 decision to George Washington in the seventh place game of the Eastern Championship. The event was held at Harvard, Friday-Sunday, April 25-27.
The Orange and Blue held a slim 4-3 lead at halftime, before getting outscored 3-1 in the third quarter to trail 6-5 entering the final frame. The Colonials capitalized on a 2-1 fourth quarter to come away with the two-goal victory and seventh place at the event. The eighth-place finish was Bucknell's best-ever in the Eastern Championship.
Senior Katie Stahler ended her career with a two-goal game, giving her 105 goals in her career, good for fifth on the BU all-time list. Also scoring twice was sophomore Cody Keffer. Junior Kelly Hofstetter, and sophomores Katie Hartigan and Meg Blitzer each tallied once in the contest. Freshman Kaitlin Bardoe handed out a team-high two assists, while sophomores Eileen Ketterer, Larissa Brown and Ashley Aiken got involved in the scoring with one helper each.
Stahler, Keffer and Blitzer led the team with three steals a piece.
Senior Lindsay Chesterfield ended her career with eight saves against George Washington to finish her four-years with a school record 892 saves and a .527 save percentage.
Bucknell ended the year with a 14-17 overall record and a 5-3 mark in Southern Division play.
