Nadezda Curcic Named Female Athlete of the Month for Tennis

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore Nadezda Curcic (Serbia/3rd Belgrade) has received the February Athlete of the Month Award for tennis from local co-sponsors K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women.
The February awards were announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Thursday, March 6. Sponsored by K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of February, as selected by their respective coaches, were Charity Brady for indoor track and field and Katie Hartigan for water polo.
The duo of Curcic and freshman Veronica Brown picked up an 8-6 victory at number one doubles versus St. Bonaventure. In singles play, Curcic won the first flight 6-2, 6-4. Assisting in defeating Niagra, Curcic and Brown picked up a hard fought win at first doubles, 9-8 (4).
Bucknell tennis is 2-0 on the spring season. They have defeated St. Bonaventure (6-1) and Niagra (4-3) on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Bison look ahead in March to compete in Hilton Head, S.C. for spring break. The Bison will face Delaware on the road before heading home for a match against Loyola in Lewisburg, Pa. The tennis team will also face Duquesne, Pittsburgh and Lafayette before the end of the month.
The next Women's Sport Luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 3 at noon.
