
Bucknell Men's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Bloomsburg

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team dropped its final home match of the season, falling to Bloomsburg 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon. The Bison managed only one singles victory in the match.
In doubles play, the number tandem of Nick Denefrio and Gerald DiChiara defeated Kris Shumway and Brian Bogus, 8-4, to get things started. The Huskies won the next two doubles bouts, 8-6 and 8-2, however, to earn the doubles points.
Denefrio got the Bison singles play started on the right foot, winning 6-2, 6-3 over Shumway at number one, but that was the only victory the Orange and Blue could muster. Asher Salam took Alex Kalezic to three sets at number three, but eventually fell 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-2. Joe Menezes and DiChiara also forced their opponents to a third set at four and five, respectively, but came up short. Menezes dropped a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 decision to Mark Vellek, while DiChiara fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 to Bogus.
Bucknell falls to 3-17 overall. The Bison travel to UMBC for a 3:00 p.m. match against the Retrievers on Wednesday, the final match of the season for BU. Bloomsburg improves to 15-3 overall.
