LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's outdoor track and field athletes, Daniel Lounsbury (Melrose, Mass./Melrose) and Justin Alden-Dunn (Newton, Mass./Dover Sherborn) were awarded Patriot League Athletes of the Week, on Tuesday, April 15. Both Massachusetts natives made impressive showings at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Lounsbury received the Men's Track Athlete of the Week award after a record-breaking performance at the Bison Outdoor Classic. The sophomore crossed the line in the 10,000-meters with a stadium-record of 30:45.83. He surpassed the previous mark by more than 16 seconds, previously set in 1993 by Army's John Panhorst (31:02.25). Lounsbury, whose time qualifies him for the IC4A Championship, won the race by more than 35 seconds over the runner-up.
Alden-Dunn was honored the Men's Field Athlete of the week for the second time this season after placing second in the pole vault on Saturday. The sophomore received the silver while clearing a height of 14'6". The mark ties Alden-Dunn for ninth on BU's all-time charts.
The Bison will host the Bucknell Quadrangular on April 19 in Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The field events will begin at 10:30 a.m.
