Bison Women's Golf Remains in 7th Place After 36 Holes of Big South Championship

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. - With the Palmetto Utility Protection Service Big South Championship two-thirds complete, Bucknell maintained its seventh-place position with a second-round score of 343 on Monday. UNC Wilmington shot a tournament-low 313 despite windy conditions to assume a commanding 19-stroke lead on Coastal Carolina heading into Tuesday's final round.
Bison senior Molly Campbell backed up her first-round 81 with a team-best 83 on Monday, and she stands in a tie for 11th place overall. Jess Hetrich also opened with an 81 but struggled with an 88 in the middle round. She now stands in 22nd place.
Also for Bucknell on Monday, Kelly Evans shot 85, Jaime Hays 87 and Amy Jones 89.
Yunuen Sanchez of UNCW shot 76 to grab a six-shot lead over Julie St. Onge of Charleston Southern.
Charleston Southern (651) is just two shots behind Coastal Carolina in the race for second place. Elon is in fourth at 662, followed by Birmingham Southern (666), Winthrop (672), Bucknell (685), Radford (692) and Holy Cross (811).
Bucknell is competing in its first-ever Big South Championship. The Bison join Holy Cross and UNC Wilmington as associate conference members in the sport of women's golf.
The Bison are slated to tee off at 7:08 a.m. in Tuesday's final round at the 5,893-yard Sea Trail Golf Resort.
