Bucknell Track and Field Competes In Susquehanna Invitational

SELINGROVE, Pa. - The Bucknell outdoor track and field teams participated in the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday. Aaron Hanlon, Marcus Jones, Justin Alden-Dunn, Robin Meling and Angela McFarland each earned a gold medal.
On the men's side of competition at the non-scoring meet, Hanlon ran the 800-meter run in 1:58.18 for a first place finish. Jones grabbed a gold medal in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:14.85. He was followed by teammate Kevin Fortkiewicz, who earned a silver medal (15:17.56). Eric Heikila placed fourth with a time of 15:38.08 in the 5K.
Alden-Dunn vaulted 15'6" to grab a first place finish, six inches higher than the runner-up. He now stands third on the all-time charts. Ryan Delaney received second place honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:52.91). Dan Frake threw the shot put 44'8" to place second and threw the hammer 135'5" for a third place finish. Thomas Bennett leaped 41'2" in the triple jump, which was good for third place.
On the women's side, Meling leaped 35'0.5" in the triple jump to receive the gold. Meling earned silver in the long jump with a leap of 16'11". McFarland threw the hammer 168'3" for a first place finish and stands third on the all-time charts. She also received second place honors in the shot put with a toss of 36'5" and in the discus (128'10"). Abigail Bouzan-Kaloustia received the silver medal in the pole vault after clearing 9'6".
Edwina Bourn placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.08. She ran the 100-meter hurdles in 15.29 during the preliminary round. Bourn grabbed the bronze in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.13. Jamie Gow placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:04.16) and stands fifth on BU's all-time charts. Katie Fantuzzo (4th, 19:13.29) and Carolyn Mateskon (5th, 19:14.69) ran the 5,000-meter run for the Bison.
On April 4 & 5, the Bison will participate in the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. at The College of William and Mary.
