Bucknell's Phil Futrick Named Rookie of the Week for Baseball

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's freshman pitcher, Phil Futrick (Shillington, Pa./Govenor Mifflin) was tabbed Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday, March 17. Futrick assisted the Bison during a 4-3 spring break training trip in Bradenton, Fla.
Futrick earned two saves out of the bullpen for the Orange and Blue. The rookie picked up his first save in an 8-4 victory over Rhode Island. He also collected a save in a 4-2 win over Miami (Ohio) by pitching 2.1 shutout frames out of the pen. The freshman allowed just one hit while striking out three Miami batters. Futrick also appeared in Bucknell's 6-2 victory over Yale.
The Bison will play in Philadelphia, Pa. at Temple on Tuesday, Mar. 18. The single game will begin at 3 p.m. Bucknell will face a doubleheader against Bloomsburg on Saturday, Mar. 22 and a doubleheader against Lock Haven on Sunday, Mar. 23. Both series will begin at noon and will be played in Lewisburg, Pa.
