LEWISBURG, Pa. - Three Bucknell men's water polo players were recently named to the 2003 Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division All-League team. Juniors Jay Danforth (Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) and Aaron Platshon (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo School), and sophomore Brad Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter School) were all named to the 2003 CWPA Southern Division Second-Team.
Danforth is making his first appearance on the all-league team. Known as a defensive specialist, he has rounded out his game this season, finishing at the top of the team statistics both offensively and defensively. Danforth ended the year second on the team in both goals scored (47) and points (61). The goal total is a career-best for the utility player, going along with his team and career-high 79 steals. In addition, Danforth was BU's main sprinter, winning 61.0% of his sprints (64-105). For his career, Danforth is just shy of the 100-goal plateau with 93 career goals, to go with 53 assists for 146 career points.
Platshon is also a first-time all-league player after returning from taking a year off. The co-captain turned in his best season performance, scoring 37 goals and assisting on 30 others to lead the squad with 67 points. In addition, Platshon finished second on the team in both steals (49) and ejections drawn (24). He has accumulated 96 points in two seasons of play with 55 goals and 41 assists.
Roslyn appears on the Southern Division all-league team for the first time in his young career as well. The sophomore picked up right where his impressive rookie campaign left off, scoring a team-best 48 goals to go with 12 assists for 60 points. His point total, third on the team, brings his career total to 131 points with 88 goals and 43 assists. Roslyn's 32 ejections drawn were also a team-high.
