
Bucknell Men's Water Polo Claims Seventh at Eastern Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Bucknell men's water polo team's 2003 season came to a close on Sunday, November 16, but the Bison went out on a strong note, defeating George Washington, 8-6, for seventh place at the Eastern Championship. The Orange and Blue end the year with a final record of 10-20.
BU took on the Colonials for the third time this season, and the Bison won the season series 2-1 with today's victory.
The two teams were tied 1-1 after one quarter, but George Washington took a 3-2 lead into the break at halftime. Bucknell came back recharged after the intermission, outscoring the Colonials 4-1 in the third quarter to take a 6-4 lead entering the final frame. Both squads scored twice in the fourth for the 8-6 final.
Junior Jay Danforth capped a solid weekend with a team-best three goals, two steals and two ejections drawn. Classmate Elliot Benoist scored twice and added an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Trevor Mullins made four saves for Bucknell.
The Bison finish the year 10-20 overall.
