LEWISBURG, Pa. - Pat Flannery's men's basketball squad hosts Big Apple Basketball this Friday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion. The contest is Bucknell's lone preseason exhibition tuneup prior to the Nov. 21 season opener at third-ranked Michigan State.
Admission is free to Friday's game. Representatives from the Bucknell ticket office will also be on hand to sell season tickets and answer questions regarding seating and ticketing for the 2003-04 season.
Despite 29 points from then-freshman Kevin Bettencourt, Bucknell lost a 97-95 shootout to Big Apple Basketball a year ago in Davis Gym. Bettencourt, who went on to average over 11 points per game and win the Patriot League Rookie of the Year award, will be one of the team's leaders again in 2003-04.
Co-captains Matt Quinn and Roland Webber are two of five seniors back with the squad this season, and underclassmen Bettencourt, Chris Niesz, Charles Lee, Tarik Viaer-McClymont and Antario Glover join a promising freshman class on what should be a very deep roster.
Following next week's opener against the Spartans - the highest-ranked opponent the Bison have ever played -- the Bison host Yale in their regular season home debut on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
