Bison Crew Takes on Lehigh and La Salle in Second Event of the Fall

SHAMOKIN DAM, Pa. - The Bucknell women's crew participated in its second race of the fall, challenging Lehigh and La Salle on the Susquehanna River on Sunday, October 5. The Bison raced both the novice and varsity crews, turning in some solid performances given the early stages of the season.
In the varsity race, one of the Bucknell eights claimed third place, while the other came in sixth in the seven-team race. Lehigh took gold with a time of 18:37, while La Salle clocked in at 19:05 for second. The Bison eight in third, with a time of 20:08, consisted of Meredith Cutting, Allison DeKnight, Julie Engel, Lisa Kim, Courtney Luzzi, Raychel Maguire, Elizabeth Marut, Candice Olszewski and Jennifer Prunoske.
Two other Lehigh boats claimed fourth and fifth in times of 20:18 and 20:32, respectively. The Orange and Blue came in sixth in a time of 20:48. That crew was made up of Christine Bufton, Megan Garrett, Jill Harrington, Vi Ngo, Amanda Roof, Rachel Trusheim, Joan Wendler, Ashley White and Teal Zeisler.
Susquehanna rounded out the seven-team race with a time of 21:42.
In the novice race, the Bucknell boats came in third and fourth, behind two Lehigh crews. The Mountain Hawks took the race in times of 21:45 and 22:40. Bucknell's first novice crew to cross the finish line was Caitlin Cleveland, Caitlin Feigenbaum, Meredith Henry, Sarah Jensen, Lisa Kirsch, Jessica Noonan, Lauren Olsen and Tabitha Smith, in a time of 22:57.
Erin Ashenfelter, Christine Drasba, Priscilla Enner, Stevie Eveland, Rachel Goldstein, Patricia Hohl, Emily Johnson, Merete Nelson and Kim Salamone comprised the fourth place crew, finishing in a time of 28:25 with seven freshmen in the boat.
The Bison crew will take next week off before returning to action on October 18-19 for the Head of the Charles, held in Cambridge, Mass.
