Bucknell Women's Crew Competes at Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bucknell crew headed to Cambridge, Mass., on the weekend of October 18-19 to participate in the Head of the Charles. The event is the largest two-day rowing event in the world. More than 7,000 athletes from around the globe compete in 21 different race events.
BU's lightweight eight turned in an impressive 13th-place finish. The lightweight eight boat consisted of Jill Harrington, Vi Ngo, Jessica Noonan, Joan Wendler, Teal Zeisler, Amanda Roof, Lauren Olsen, Rachel Trusheim and coxswain Raychel Maguire.
In the Openweight Eight, the Bison crew finished 34th. Rowing for the Openweight team was Julie Engel, Meredith Cutting, Jen Prunoske, Candice Olszewski, Liz Marut, Allison DeKnight, Ashley White and Caitlin Scudder. Maguire also served as the coxswain for the Openweight crew.
"I am very happy with the way the women handled themselves on the race course," commented head coach Steve Kish. "We obviously have a lot of work to do in order to catch up to the competition by spring, but I have a lot of faith in them. I know our women are looking forward to the next few months of training."
The Bison are off until November 8, when they participate in the Frostbite Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa.
