PRINCETON, N.J. - Playing in overtime for the second time in as many days, the Bucknell men's water polo team dropped a disappointing 12-10 overtime decision to Salem International at Inter-regional play, held at Princeton on Sunday, October 19. With the loss, BU claimed sixth at the event and will now enter the Southern Division Championship as the sixth seed.
The Bison trailed 3-1 after one quarter of play, and were down 6-4 at the halftime intermission. The Orange and Blue came charging back to tie the game at 7-7 after three, and both teams scored twice in the fourth quarter to force the overtime. Salem International scored three times in the extra sessions, to Bucknell's one, for the 12-10 victory.
Senior Scott Afzal, and juniors Aaron Platshon, Nick Ferring and Jay Danforth each had two goals for BU. Junior Elliot Benoist and sophomore Bradley Roslyn also scored for the Bison.
Sophomore Trevor Mullins was in net for Bucknell, stopping seven shots.
