LEWISBURG, Pa. - Seniors Matt Quinn (Montville, Conn./St. Thomas More Prep) and Roland Webber (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) have been selected by their teammates to serve as co-captains of the Bucknell men's basketball team in 2003-04, head coach Pat Flannery announced.
Quinn, a 6'5" guard, and Webber, a 6'3" guard, are two of seven seniors returning to the squad this season, and both have seen extensive playing time throughout their careers. Quinn is best known as one of the Patriot League's most dangerous 3-point shooters, while Webber is an excellent defender and has long been one of the Bison's most popular players in the locker room.
"Roland and Matt are naturals to lead our team as captains," said Flannery. "They are both four-year players and know what our program is all about. They have both been a big part of our success, not just in their minutes played, but also off the court in their continuity and leadership.
"Both guys came back to school in great shape and showed the entire team what hard work is all about," said Flannery. "They led by example with their work ethic. It's an honor to be named captain, especially in a year when there are seven seniors. For Matt and Roland to emerge says a lot."

A possible starter in 2003-04, Quinn has played in more career games (77) than any returning Bison. He played in 28 contests last season, including 21 starts, and averaged 6.2 ppg and 2.6 rpg. Quinn made at least one 3-pointer in 16 games, including a half-dozen in a career-high 22-point night against Canisius.
Webber played a reserve role for the Bison last season, compiling 19 points, 22 rebounds and 11 assists in 24 games. Webber, who played at least 10 minutes in eight games, including both Patriot League Tournament contests, has four career starts under his belt.
Bucknell opens its 2003-04 season on Friday, Nov. 21 at Michigan State, with the home opener slated for Nov. 26 against Yale at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion.
