
Bucknell Men's Water Polo Falls 10-9 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

CLAREMONT, Calif. - For the second game in a row, the Bucknell men's water polo team dropped a 10-9 decision to a nationally ranked Division III school, this time falling to the host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at the Claremont Convergence on Friday, October 10. CMS is ranked sixth in the country in the latest Division III poll.
Bucknell trailed 3-2 after one quarter of play, before coming back to outscore Claremont 3-1 in the second for a 5-4 halftime lead. Both teams tallied twice in the third quarter to enter the fourth with a 7-6 game in BU's favor. The host team exploded for four goals in the final quarter, while holding the Bison to just two for the 10-9 come-from-behind victory.
Junior Jay Danforth led the Orange and Blue with three goals and two assists. Danforth also drew three ejections, and registered a team-high three steals. Junior Paul Yerkes also scored multiple times, netting two goals and recording one assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Trevor Mullins stopped seven shots for Bucknell, while allowing 10 goals.
The Bison fall to 3-13 overall. The team faces LaVerne, the seventh ranked team in Division III, at 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 11. BU plays its final game of the tournament against 15th-ranked BYU-Hawaii at 6:00 p.m. ET.
