ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Scott Long had 19 points to lead Navy to a 66-53 win over Bucknell on Saturday.
It broke a four-game losing streak for Navy (5-11, 1-2 Patriot League), which was off to its worst start since the 1991-1992 season.
The last five field goals for the Midshipmen in the first half were 3-pointers, helping Navy take a 28-23 halftime edge.
To begin the second half, Navy outscored Bucknell (7-8, 1-2) 22-8 to take a 50-31 lead with 9:21 remaining. Francis Ebong converted on a 3-point play to give Navy a 19-point advantage, its largest of the game.
The Midshipmen scored its last 16 points from the foul line, with 7 by Long.
Kevin Bettencourt hit a 3-pointer with 2:48 remaining to cut the Navy lead to 57-49, but that was Bucknell's final field goal. Chris Rodgers led Bucknell with 12 points.
U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft attended the game.
