Bucknell Women's Golf Opens with 337 at Bay Tree

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Bucknell women's golf team opened its 2002 fall season Friday at the College of Charleston's Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic, compiling a team score of 337. The Bison are tied for 26th place alongside Appalachian State and Gardner-Webb in the 35-team field.
Senior co-captain Jess Hetrich carded a team-low 81 on the par-72, 5,873-yard track, while classmate Molly Campbell shot 82.
Freshman Kelly Evans finished with an 85 in her first collegiate round, while sophomore Jaime Hays overcame a tough start to shoot 40 on the back nine en route to an 89. Senior Amy Jones turned in Bucknell's fifth card with a 94.
East Carolina shot 301 on Friday to take a two-stroke lead over UNC-Wilmington. Arkansas-Little Rock (304), Iowa State (308) and Coastal Carolina (312) round out the top five.
Jessica Krasny of East Carolina was the only competitor to match par with a 72 on a warm but windy day in Myrtle Beach.
The Bison have late-afternoon tee times for Saturday's second round. The 54-hole tourney concludes Sunday.
