Bucknell's Julie Engel Named To USRowing Honor Roll

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior Julie Engel (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna), a member of the women's crew team, earned 2002 USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll First Team accolades, announced USRowing.
Engel is a mechanical engineering student at Bucknell and has participated on the crew team for four years. Engel, along with teammates Lisa Baranik, Rebecca Newman, Jill Harrington and coxswain Nicole Tomlin, finished the 2002 spring season with silver metal at the Dad Vail, largest collegiate regatta, on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa.
The USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in both academics and rowing, as well as participated in extra curricular activities. The applicants also must have completed four semesters or six quarters of academic work and have earned a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
USRowing is a non-profit membership organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States.
The Bucknell women's crew team starts its 2002-03 season with the King's Head Regatta in King of Prussia, Pa. on Sunday, Sept. 29.
