Bucknell Schedules Free Sprinting Seminar
9/10/2002 8:00:00 AM | Men's Track and Field
Sept. 10, 2002
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's associate head track and field coach, Joe Klim, will be hosting a free sprinting seminar on Sunday, Sept. 29. The seminar will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the Bucknell campus. The location of the seminar will be in Christy Mathewson - Memorial Stadium with the rain location in the Gerhard Fieldhouse.
Coach Klim has worked with the Bison for men's and women's track and field teams the last six years and his athletes have captured 15 conference championships, 19 school records, 81 top five performances and 116 top 10 performances. Coach Klim is also USATF Level II School Certified.
Coach Klim's goal is to pass on his sprinting knowledge to the participants so they may become a faster athlete or a better coach. Klim will talk in depth about proper sprinting mechanics, such as body position, upper and lower body placement, foot and leg angles and placement, as well as head positioning. He will also expand on topics such as stretch reflex positions through the body, stride length and frequency, and how to generate force into the ground.
The sprinting seminar will help any athlete or coach learn by doing, which will be optional. Those taking part will do a progression of sprint drills followed by a sprinting progression. There will also be a question and answer session at the end of the seminar.
Sign ups are unnecessary, but if you will be bringing a group of 10 or more, please contact coach Klim at (570) 577-3058 or by email at klim@bucknell.edu. Any other questions should also be directed to coach Klim.
