Lewisburg, Pa. -- Bucknell Director of Athletics John Hardt announced that the men's water polo Southern Division games scheduled for Bucknell University on September 21-22, 2002, will be moved to Franklin & Marshall University in Lancaster, Pa. The move was made after the Bucknell administration determined that the new 54-meter-by-25-yard Olympic class pool, currently under construction, will not be ready by the target date.
All game times will remain as originally scheduled and the Bison will be considered the host school of the contests.
The Bucknell pool is one element of a new recreation and athletics center which will feature a state-of-the-art 15,000 square-foot student fitness center with an instructional strength and conditioning area and a 4,000 seat arena with expansion capability of 800 additional seats. Also included in the project are a new athletic Hall of Fame and display of Bucknell's Medal of Honor recipients, training and therapy suites, classrooms and modern offices for coaches and staff. The 60-year-old Davis Gym and Freas-Rooke Pool will be renovated as auxiliary gyms.
