Hetrich Wins Individual Crown at Bucknell Women's Golf Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Jess Hetrich shot a 10-over-par 80 for the second day in a row and won the individual title at the Bucknell Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Bucknell Golf Club.
As a team, the Bison finished second with a score of 680 and were nipped by St. Francis (Pa.), which came from behind to win the team title by three strokes. The Red Flash trailed Bucknell by five strokes after the first day of the invitational, but out-shot the Bison 334-342 over the final 18 holes.
Hetrich, who entered this afternoon's competition with a slim one-stroke lead, held on to pick up her first collegiate victory with the win. Senior Hilary Mainka broke the top-10 as well as she tied for eighth. After shooting 87 on the first day, Mainka finished strong with an 84 this afternoon. Freshman Jaime Hays was Bucknell's next lowest finisher on the second day after coming through with an 84-stroke effort. She finished 11th out of 47 golfers with a 36-hole total of 172.
Senior Bridget O'Mara completed BU's team scoring with a 94. She finished tied for 14th at 178. Freshman Caitlin Sullivan also cracked the top-20 for Bucknell, shooting 93 to finish tied for 17th at 183.
Competing as individuals for the Bison were freshman Allison Kasic and sophomore Jessica Clark. Kasic finished 21st with a score of 187 (95, 92), while Clark tied for 28th at 196 (101, 95).
The Bison will conclude their spring season next Saturday and Sunday with the James Madison Invitational.
