
Bucknell Women's Water Polo Season Comes to a Close at Eastern's

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Bucknell women's water polo season came to a close on Sunday, April 28, as the squad competed in its final games of the 2002 ledger at the Eastern Championship at Princeton. The Bison turned in a 1-3 weekend, placing 11th at the tournament.
On Sunday, the Orange and Blue fell for the third-straight time, dropping a 6-5 decision to St. Francis. Five different players scored goals in the contest, while four team members' added assists. Sophomore Kelly Hofstetter, and freshmen Ashley Aiken, Cody Keffer and Eileen Ketterer led the way with two points each. Hofstetter, Keffer and Ketterer all tallied once and assisted on one goal, while Aiken handed out a team-high two helpers.
On the defensive side, senior Brooke Rea joined Keffer and Ketterer for the team-lead in steals with three a piece. Keffer also recorded two ejections drawn, along with Hofstetter, for a squad-best in that category.
Junior Lindsay Chesterfield made six saves in net.
The Bison rebounded from the close loss with an 11-5 decision over Villanova to take 11th place at the championship. Hofstetter finished the season strong, scoring four goals in the victory. Rea also had a solid game, tallying three times in her final contest for Bucknell. Senior Adrienne Schober, also playing in her final game, led the team in assists with three.
Chesterfield registered 11 saves in the net for Bucknell.
The Bison end the year at 14-19 overall.
