
Bucknell Women's Water Polo Advances to Eastern's With 10-8 Win Over Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. - With a victory in the fifth-place game of the Southern Division Championship, the Bucknell women's water polo team has earned an automatic bid to the Eastern Championship, held on April 26-28 at Princeton University. The Bison earned the spot with a 10-8 win over Villanova on Sunday, April 21.
The Orange and Blue led 4-2 after the first period, but found themselves in a 5-4 hole at halftime after failing to score in the second. After outscoring the Wildcats, 3-2, in the third to even the contest at 7-7, the Bucknell squad scored three goals to Villanova's one in the fourth to come away with the 10-8 victory for fifth place at the Southern Division Championship.
Sophomore Kelly Hofstetter was BU's offensive threat, scoring four goals on four attempts. Freshman Cody Keffer also proved potent, finding the back of the net three times on three tries. Junior Lindsay Chesterfield made seven saves in net for the Bison, while allowing eight goals.
Bucknell improves to 13-16 overall and is in action next at the Eastern Championship on Friday, April 26.
