Bucknell Men's Tennis Defeats Patriot League Rival Lafayette, 5-2

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team won the doubles point and proceeded to win four of six singles matches on its way to a 5-2 win over visiting Lafayette in Patriot League action on Thursday, April 11.
Senior Scott Allen and junior Todd Jacobs got things started at No. 2 doubles with an 8-1 victory over Devin Murphy and Alex Karapetian. Freshmen Leland Tien and Joe Menezes teamed up to secure the doubles point for the Bison with an 8-2 win at No. 3 over Ryan Collins and John Zazzu.
The Leopards took the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, but it was all Orange and Blue from there with the host team winning the final four singles bouts. Tien picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Collins at No. 3, while Menezes claimed a 6-2, 7-6 (2) match over Murphy at No. 4. Freshman Gerald DiChiara defeated Zazzu 6-2, 7-6 (5) at No. 5, and Jacobs rounded out the scoring with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Mike Levey at No. 6.
Bucknell improves to 11-4 overall and will be in action again on Saturday, April 13, when it hosts Colgate in the second of five straight home matches. The match is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
