LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell football team will host its Fourth Annual Family FunFest on Sunday, April 7, from 1-3 p.m. at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The event is free and open to the public. Children must be in the eighth grade or younger and accompanied by an adult.
In addition, a special Junior Bison Club party will take place in conjunction with the FunFest on April 7. Pizza, soda, free prizes and much more will be available to all Junior Bison Club members who bring their Junior Bison Club ID cards.
FunFest is intended to give families the opportunity to meet the Bison players while experiencing college football hands on. The event has attracted large crowds over the last three years. Players will conduct activities at different stations on the field, including being timed in the 20 or 40-yard dash, running the obstacle course, eluding defenders, catching a pass from a Bucknell quarterback, throwing for distance and accuracy, punting and kicking for distance, or learning a cheer from the cheerleaders. Fans will also have the opportunity to don the headsets and join "Voice of the Bison" Doug Birdsong to call play-by-play.
In addition, the Bison locker room and weight training areas will be open for tours. There will also be face painting, opportunities to have a photo taken in a Bucknell uniform, and much, much more.
Bucknell officially opens spring practice on Thursday, March 28 at 4:30 p.m. The session will conclude with the annual spring intrasquad game on Sunday, April 21 at Mathewson Stadium.
Like the FunFest, all spring practice sessions and the spring game are free and open to the public.
