PHILADELPHIA - With 10 top-three performances, the Bucknell University track & field teams put together a solid showing at their second outdoor meet of the season this afternoon at the Quaker Invitational, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
Bucknell's women's squad placed seven athletes or relay teams among the top three at the non-scoring meet, while the men's contingent had a trio of top-three showings.
Freshman Kiley MacDonald and senior LaTonya McSwain placed first in the 100m hurdles and the 800m run, respectively. MacDonald sprinted and leaped her way to a 15.17 clocking to beat out 12 other hurdlers while McSwain was the first of 37 competitors to cross the line. Her time of 2:15.30 was just under three seconds off her personal best. Bucknell's 1600m relay team also came in first in 4:01.50.
Sophomore Maria Garcia came in second in the hammer throw with a toss of 162'1", just five feet and seven inches behind event winner Kate Johnston of Penn State.
The Bison women's team had three athletes or relays finish third on the afternoon. Junior Theresa Dennis came in third in the 1,500m run (4:48.86), as did sophomore Erin Lee in the discus (129'6"). Bucknell's 400m relay team copped a third-place showing in 49.90.
