BU Women's Golf Finishes 22nd at Snowbird Intercollegiate

TAMPA, Fla. - In its first competition of the spring, Bucknell's women's golf team placed 22nd out of 22 teams at the 36-hole Northern Illinois Snowbird Intercollegiate this weekend.
At the par-72 Pebblecreek Country Club, Bucknell shaved 20 strokes off its first-round score in shooting a 345 in Saturday's final round. Leading the charge was Hilary Mainka, who carded a second-round 77, easily the Bison's best round of the tournament.
Mainka's 36-hole total of 169 was tops on the team and tied her for 69th in the individual standings.
Other second-round scores for Bucknell included an 88 from Jess Hetrich, 90 from both Jaime Hays and Caitlyn Sullivan and 93 from Bridget O'Mara.
Arkansas State set tournament records with its second-round 295 and its 36-hole total of 600. The Lady Indians won the tournament by a comfortable 17 strokes over runner-up Notre Dame. Southern Miss (618) was a stroke behind the Fighting Irish, while Southern Illinois (620) and Toledo (624) rounded out the top five.
Arkansas State's Shellie Wenzel shot a four-under 68 on Saturday to claim medallist honors with a five-under 139 composite. Alison Hiller of Southern Illinois, also shot 68 to earn a share of the tournament record.
Bucknell returns to action March 30-31 at the William & Mary Invitational.
