Bison Women's Tennis Takes 7-0 Decision Over IPFW

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Bucknell's women's tennis team continued its Spring Break trip with a 7-0 sweep of Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne on Tuesday morning. The Bison did not lose a set in singles and blanked the Mastodons in two of three doubles pro-sets.
Freshman Nadezda Curcic handled the No. 1 singles chores, scoring a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jill Carie for her second singles win of the trip. Jill Wurzburg was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 2. Laura Maisel, Kristin Inglis, Tanya Sichko and Samantha Berthod also won in straight sets, with Maisel and Berthod shutting out their opponents at the third and sixth singles, respectively. Inglis was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 4 singles, while Sichko registered a 6-0, 6-3 win at the fifth spot.
Berthod was equally stingy in doubles, teaming with Kristen Pugno for an 8-0 blanking of Heather Thyme and Stacey Scharlach at No. 3. Maisel and Wurzburg were 8-0 winners at No. 2, while Sichko and Inglis teamed for an 8-6 win at No. 1.
Bucknell continues its five-match Spring Break trip on Wednesday against Southern Mississippi at 8 a.m. and then Quinnipiac at 7 p.m.
