Bucknell Women's Tennis Team Selected Fifth in Preseason Patriot League Poll

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell tallied 20 points to finish fifth in a preseason poll of Patriot League coaches and sports information directors for the 2002 women's tennis season. Coaches and SID's were not permitted to vote for their own team.
The Bison finished the 2001 season with a 4-12 overall record and a mark of 0-3 in the Patriot League.
American, competing in its inaugural season in the Patriot League, garnered seven first-place votes and was selected to win the annual Patriot League women's tennis championship with 46 points. Army finished just one point behind American with 45 points and five first-place votes. Colgate was predicted to place third in the league standings with 32 points, followed by Lehigh (24), Bucknell (20) and Lafayette (13).
Bucknell opens its spring season on Feb. 9-10 at the College of New Jersey Invitational.
