Senior Women's Water Polo Players Named 2002 Captains

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Seniors Brooke Rea (Canandaigua, N.Y./Los Altos) and Adrienne Schober (Houston, Texas/Clearlake) have been selected to serve as captains of the 2002 Bucknell women's water polo team.
Since transferring to Bucknell as a sophomore, Rea has made a large impact on the Bucknell program. In her first year, the 2-meter player finished second on the team with 76 points behind a team-best 53 goals. Rea did not let down during her junior campaign, leading the team in goals scored for the second year in a row with 58. In addition, she finished the year with 33 ejections drawn and 62 steals, first and second respectively.
Rea is not only a leader in the water, but in the classroom as well. She is a member of the University's Dean's List, and was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District II University Division Spring At-Large Team. In addition, the English major is a two-time member of the American Water Polo Coaches Association All-Academic Outstanding team.
Schober has had a remarkable season and career for the Bison thus far. She currently holds the records for career best points (211) and career best assists (113). At the conclusion of her junior year campaign, Schober set Bucknell records for points in a season with 93 and assists in a year with 58, surpassing the old marks of 83 and 41, respectively. During her sophomore season, Schober was named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association Allegheny Division All-Conference first team.
The driver is also an example in the water and out, joining Rea on the University's Dean's List. She has also represented the team on the American Water Polo Coaches Association All-Academic Team.
The Bison open the 2002 spring season at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, February 16-17. Bucknell faces the host team Princeton, ranked 16th in the latest national poll, at 11:00 a.m. in the first game of the season, before challenging Slippery Rock at 4:30 p.m. the same day.
