
Bucknell Men Head into Break with 72-45 Win over FDU-Florham

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Kevin Bettencourt scored a game-high 15 points to lead Bucknell to a 72-45 victory over FDU-Florham Monday evening in Davis Gym. The Bison won their second straight game and improved to 4-3 heading into an 11-day layoff for final exams.
Boakai Lalugba finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, falling just one carom shy of extending his five-game double-double streak. Dan Blankenship also reached double figures with 10 points and led Bucknell with five assists.
Brian McCauley was the Devils' lone double-digit scorer with 13 points. FDU-Florham fell to 2-4 with the loss.
Bettencourt scored seven points in an early 9-2 Bucknell run that erased a 4-3 deficit and gave the Bison the lead for good. Roland Webber's free throws with 11:55 remaining in the opening half gave Bucknell its first double-digit lead at 18-8, while Charles Lee's layup with just under a minute left capped a 7-0 run and stretched the lead to 40-19 at the half.
FDU-Florham held Bucknell without a field goal for a span of 6:24 midway through the second stanza, with Brian Klug's layup trimming the Devils' deficit to 16 at 52-36. Blankenship ended Bucknell's drought with a 3-pointer, igniting a 20-9 run over the final 8:36. Chris Rodgers 3-pointer just before the final buzzer gave the Bison their largest lead of the night at 27 points.
Bucknell used all 15 of its healthy players, and the two teams combined to use 31 players.
The Bison shot an even 50.0 percent from the field and committed only seven turnovers in the first half, but slumped to 37.9 percent and 14 miscues after intermission. FDU-Florham shot 39.0 percent from the field and finished with 25 turnovers. Bucknell doubled up the Devils on the glass, 42-21.
Bucknell returns to action on Dec. 20 at Penn State at 7:30 p.m.
