LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Nicki Piper (Mineral Point, Pa./Central Cambria) has received the October Athlete of the Month Award for cross country from local co-sponsors K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Thursday, Nov. 7. Sponsored by K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of October, as selected by their respective coaches, were junior twins Breean and Brandi Trapasso in volleyball, senior Kelly Burrows for field hockey and sophomore Annie Greenspun for women's soccer.
Piper is a second year participant with the Bison. Last weekend, she placed sixth with a time of 23:17.10 during the Patriot League Championships. Piper was awarded to first-team All-League for the first time in her cross country career.
On Nov. 2, Bucknell finished second, one point behind first-place American, during the Patriot League Championship. The cross country team prepares for the Mid-Atlantic meet on Nov. 16.
