Bucknell Cross Country Athletes Receive All-League Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. - On Saturday, eight members of the Bucknell men's and women's cross country teams were awarded All-League honors. The Bison competed in the Patriot League Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2. The women's team placed second out of seven teams, only one point behind first-place American University, while the men's team placed third out of seven.
First-team All-League honors were awarded to Bryan Johnston (Kane, Pa./Kane Area) (1st, 25:43.18), Theresa Dennis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Hanover Area) (2nd, 22:35.56), Nicki Piper (Mineral Point, Pa./Central Cambria) (6th, 23:17.10) and Alison Cole (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) (8th, 23:23.00) from Bucknell.
Johnston set the pace in the men's race, finishing first with a course-record time of 25:43.18. He is Bucknell's fourth Patriot League individual champion and the first since David Bronfenbrenner in 1999.
Second-team All-League accolades were awarded to Stephen Schaefer (Avon By The Sea, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) (18th, 26:34.53), Katherine Pfeifer (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) (13th, 23:46.45), Jamie Gow (Brookline, N.H./Hollis-Brookline) (14th, 23:48.29), and Kayla Halloran (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) (19th, 23:57.70).
Bucknell will participate in the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet on Saturday, Nov. 16.
