Bucknell Cross Country Participates in Mid-Atlantic Region Meet

MORGANTOWN, W.V. - The Bucknell University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Mid-Atlantic Region in Morgantown, W.V., Saturday afternoon. The women's team placed sixth out of 27 teams, while the men's team finished 10th out of 26 squads.
The women's team completed the 6k race placing sixth with 178 points. Senior Theresa Dennis led the women's squad placing 21st with a time of 21:43.6. The Bison had five runners, including Dennis, cross the line in the top 50 runners out of 188. Freshman Jamie Gow (37th, 22:24.1), senior Nicki Piper (40th, 22:31.8), freshmen Kayla Halloran (44th, 22:37.8) and Alison Cole (49th, 22:43.9) rounded off the top 50 runners.
Completing the race for the Bison included Katie Pfeifer, who place 67th with a time of 23:06.0, and Rachel Tutmaher, 70th (23:07.7). The women's team placed below Georgetown (1st, 50 points), Villanova (2nd, 57), Penn State (3rd, 111), West Virginia (4th, 131), and Princeton (5th, 144).
The men's squad placed 10th with a total 294 points. Senior Bryan Johnston led the men's team placing 19th with a time of 31:18.8 on the 10K course. Lou Palma crossed the line second for the Bison with a time of 32:27.0 and finishing 62nd out of the total 177 runners.
Eric Furst (71st, 32:33.1), Nick Mousetis (75th, 32:42.2) and Stephen Schaefer (80th, 32:44.9) rounded out the middle section of runners for the Orange and Blue. Wes Reinhardt (87th, 32:58.4) and Jesse Graytock (117th, 33:44.6) completed the scoring for Bucknell.
Bucknell will participate in the IC4A and ECAC meets on Saturday, Nov. 23.
