Lehigh Snaps Bucknell's Five-Match Patriot League Win Streak

LEWISBURG, Pa. - After defeating Lafayette 3-0 on Friday, Bucknell welcomed the second-place Lehigh Mountain Hawks to Davis Gymnasium Saturday night. The Bison were unable to avenge an earlier loss to the Hawks, falling 3 games to 1.
The match was action-packed from the beginning, as Lehigh outlasted the Bison 39-37 in game one. Bucknell came back to tie the match at a game apiece, claiming a 30-24 victory in game two. After the intermission, Lehigh jumped out to an early lead in game three and never looked back, winning game three 30-24 before clinching the match with a 30-21 victory in game four.
The Bison offense was led by senior Melanie Ghiz with 18 kills, while sophomores Chelsea Robertson and Jackie Leahy each chipped in 10 kills. Defensively, Bucknell was led by junior Brandi Trapasso with 23 digs and freshman Chelsea Anderson with 21 digs. Junior Breean Trapasso tallied 49 assists to go along with 11 digs of her own.
The Bison will next be in action Friday, November 1 when they travel to Annapolis, Md. for a Patriot League clash with Navy. Bucknell will then visit first-place American University on Saturday, November 2. Both matches are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
